Personal recollection from David T. van Wickle via 27 Feb 07 email - I've been a teacher in Delaware for 37 years- since 1969--a high school math teacher. I was the first in my branch [of the family] to go to college. My mother and father were very proud. My dad got to 6th grade and after five foster homes changed his age on his birth certificate and joined the navy at 15. My mother got to third grade and being the oldest was made to stay and tend her siblings. I decided in college to put a lower case 'van' in front of Wickle. [David's first wife, Elaine, retains the spelling "Vanwickle"]
